The Hong Kong Tourism Board was established on April 1, 2001. It is a tourism promotion agency funded by the Hong Kong Government. Its mission is to maximize the contribution of Hong Kong tourism to Hong Kong’s society and economy and to strengthen Hong Kong’s status as a world-class tourist destination.
The Hong Kong Observatory is a government department responsible for monitoring and forecasting weather, as well as issuing warnings on weather-related hazards. The Observatory also monitors and assesses radiation levels in Hong Kong, and provides other meteorological and geophysical services to meet the needs of the public and the shipping, aviation, industrial and engineering sectors.
The Transport Department is a division of the Transport and Housing Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It was established in 1968 to regulate traffic in Hong Kong.
The Marine Department is a department of the Transport and Housing Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. It is mainly responsible for maritime safety in Hong Kong waters, port supervision, management of Hong Kong ship registration, ensuring the quality of Hong Kong registered ships, regulating the registration and hiring of seafarers in Hong Kong, etc. Standards and legislation, dealing with oil pollution, collecting garbage generated by ships and cleaning up specific floating garbage, coordinating maritime search and rescue operations, investigating marine accidents in Hong Kong waters, and maintaining the fleet of various government departments in Hong Kong.
Since 2005, the Changchun Society and the HEC have jointly launched the “Green Travel Hong Kong” project, jointly developed 10 ecological heritage trails on Hong Kong Island and Lamma Island, and trained more than 200 volunteer guides. The project aims to enhance the ecological and heritage conservation of Hong Kong Island and Lamma Island. It also conducts environmental education through guided tours and promotes the sustainable development of Hong Kong.
