Da Jiu Festival – Sok Kwu Wan

22nd March of Lunar calendar
Lamma Island’s Da Jiu Festival will be celebrated once in duration of two days and one night at every four years. The latest celebration was held by Lamma Island (South) Rural Committee at Sok Kwu Wan in 2015. The main objective of celebration is to praise the charitable and pious deeds of the deities, appease the transient ghosts and feed the ancestors.
Tin Hau Festival – Sok Kwu Wan April of Lunar calendar There are three temples located at Lamma Isand, for locals to worship Tin Hau, the goddess for the sea and fishermen. To celebrate the birth of Tin Hau, Chinese opera performances will be held at temporary bamboo stages outside Tin Hau Temple of Sok Kwu Wan with overwhelming response from audiences. Representatives from other fishery zone such as Tsing Yi, Aberdeen, Ap Lei Chau and Shau Kei Wan will join the Fa Pau celebration at Lamma.
Tin Hau Festival – Luk Chau 1st May of Lunar calendar Locals will celebrate Tin Hau Festival by Fa Pau, lion dance as well as tending roadside fires and burning incense to worship Tin Hau. Fa Pau involves representatives from Lamma, Aberdeen, West Point, Shau Kei Wan and Ap Lei Chau. In addition, dragon boat race will be held at Luk Chau Wan Bay.
Yu Lan (The Hungry Ghost Festival) July of Lunar calendar Yu Lan will be held annually by Lamma Island (North) Rural Committee. It takes a month for preparation and fund-raising of the captioned will be taken place a week before The Hungry Ghost Festival.
